The Clarksville Industrial Park is home to corporate partners committed to supporting the Clarksville community beyond their business operations, and recently, a few of them have stepped up in a big way.
Google has sponsored a robotics event through Visit Clarksville, provided laptops to graduates of the Hispanic Entrepreneurs Program, sponsored a TEDx event at the Customs House Museum, and contributed $30,000 to YAIPAK Outreach’s Foster Hope program.
Hankook Tire has supported the community through a $10,000 sponsorship of the Clarksville Half Marathon, a $10,000 donation to the American Red Cross, and recent contributions to the Veterans Coalition.
Trane, Clarksville’s second-largest employer and oldest industrial company, last week donated five industrial heating and cooling units to YAIPAK, as reported in Clarksville Now. The units, worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, were craned onto the roof on Oct. 2. YAIPAK founder Sherry Nicholson called the gift a mission-changer that will help the group keep volunteers and serve more people year-round. Frito-Lay steps up to help Manna Cafe
Frito-Lay recently joined the growing list of companies located within Clarksville-Montgomery County, and donated $5,000 to Manna Café Ministries after the nonprofit lost a refrigerator and a significant amount of food.
Manna Café has served Clarksville since 2010, helping families facing hunger and homelessness through food distribution, hot meals, and additional support services. The organization distributes more than 2.3 million pounds of food each year and serves approximately 31,000 hot meals.
Its impact extends well beyond meals. Manna Café provides life-skills programs, connects approximately 150 people each year with housing, and mobilizes more than 2,000 volunteers who contribute nearly 20,000 hours of service to the community.
Since founder Kenny York’s passing in September 2022, the organization has faced significant challenges. According to Chief Operating Officer Doretha Minor, donations have declined while the cost of providing services has continued to increase.
“Local businesses have always been an important part of this work, and partnership can look different for every company. Some invest financially. Others engage their employees, share their expertise, or provide needed products and services,” Minor said. “We invite each business leader to find the opportunity that best fits their company’s values and strengths to support this work. Together, we can meet immediate needs and help build a stronger Clarksville for everyone.”
Frito-Lay’s donation is one example of how Clarksville’s corporate community can step up when local organizations need help. For Manna Café, the $5,000 contribution will help replace lost food and keep its mission moving forward.
