CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Those who experience food allergies have a new shopping choice in Clarksville.

Oh, That’s Good Food! opened this month at 127 Dean Drive and according to owner Kathleen Brady, the initial response from the public was overwhelmingly positive. She and her husband Robert are excited to provide gluten free, nut free, and soy free grocery items to the community.

The store’s products are created entirely by Kathleen, who has been testing her ingredients and recipes for years to achieve the perfect end results. She was inspired by Becca Trapp, the daughter of a family friend whose food options were limited when she was diagnosed with Celiac disease at a young age.

When the family approached Kathleen for gluten free recipes, she immediately began researching meal plans and started experimenting with new ingredients. Her pancake recipe was a hit with the family, so they have now been designated as her official taste testers for her latest creations.

“I make everything twice to make sure I can repeat it with the directions I make up, then I send it to my taste testers to reproduce it,” Kathleen said. “They approve it and then a label is made.”

Oh, That’s Good Food! currently sells a variety of mixes with dry ingredients, including pancakes, pizza crust, funnel cakes, brown and white rice, oats, flours, flat bread, shortcakes, vanilla cinnamon sugar, biscuits, and Kathleen’s personal favorite: chicken breading. The packaging for these and other items comes with directions for preparing the food. Kathleen said she is also working to develop milk and egg free recipes for her products.

When the store held its grand opening earlier in July, Kathleen was elated when people flocked to the store.

“People need it,” she said of the specialized ingredients. “They were just beside themselves because they can’t find decent food at a decent price. This is something they can use.”

Kathleen and Robert have big dreams for the store and hope to eventually expand their inventory and square footage.

Oh, That’s Good Food! is open on the first and third Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The store will offer free samples during each first Saturday’s hours.
