HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle crash that occurred on Mount Zoar Latham Road, approximately one mile west of Madisonville Road, on Tuesday, November 18 at 5:06 p.m.
According to a news release, David Story, 52, of Hopkinsville, was driving a 2001 GMC Yukon eastbound on Mount Zoar Latham Road when lost control of the vehicle while making a left turn. The vehicle went off the right shoulder, struck a utility pole, and traveled through a residential yard before coming to a stop.
Story was able to get the vehicle back onto the roadway and was leaving the scene as a trooper arrived. The trooper determined Story was impaired and found a bag containing a large quantity of prescription pills in his possession.
No injuries were reported.
Story was charged with the following offenses:
1) Leaving the Scene of an Accident
2) DUI 1st Offense
3) Prescription Controlled Substance not in Proper Container – 3 counts
4) Possession Controlled Substance 3rd Degree – 3 counts
5) Failure to Produce Insurance Card
Story was booked into the Christian County Jail. Some residents were temporarily without power while Pennyrile Electric replaced the damaged utility pole.
