Clarksville, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville’s FUEL Program, in partnership with local churches, will hold its ninth annual “I Scream for FUEL, Ice Cream Freeze-Off” on Saturday, August 24, at Montgomery Central Elementary School’s gym.
The annual event is hosted by the United Methodist Churches of Mt. Zion, Antioch, Marion and Salem along with the Lone Oak and Memorial Baptist churches. Guests will sample homemade ice creams and vote on their favorite flavor combinations. Hot dogs, entertainment and games will be provided along with unlimited ice cream.
The “Freeze-Off” raises much needed funds to support the FUEL program that provides non-perishable, easy to prepare food items for young children in Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools. Many children rely on school breakfast and lunch for their primary meals each day. The food items supplied help to supplement them over the weekend.
“This is our 9th year and each year the ice cream entries grow and become more diverse. It is so fun just to try some of the different flavor combinations that entrants come up with, plus it is a great family fun event,” stated Carol Ussery, committee chairperson.
I Scream for FUEL begins at 4 p.m. and runs until 6 p.m. Donations at the door for FUEL would be greatly appreciated. Montgomery Central Elementary School Gym is located at 4011 Highway 48, Cunningham, TN.
