CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A tractor trailer that was carrying mail to Clarksville lost control and caught fire on Interstate 24 westbound Monday near Joelton.
The fire occurred at around 4:45 a.m. near the Old Hickory Boulevard exit. Westbound lanes were closed for several hours, causing major delays from Nashville to Clarksville.
Metro police told News 2 the driver said he hydroplaned, striking a brick wall before it jacknifed and burst into flames.
The driver was able to escape to safety. He was taken to TriStar Skyline Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
