CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – We could be in for a drenched weekend in Clarksville as Hurricane Delta moves inland, but it’s still too early to say for sure.

The hurricane is expected to make landfall at about 2 a.m. Saturday in Louisiana, then track northeast directly toward Middle Tennessee, according to National Hurricane Center projections on Tuesday morning.

Hurricane Delta projection as of Tuesday morning.”The potential for heavy rain and flash flooding will increase across portions of the central Gulf Coast, Tennessee Valley and southeastern United States as Delta moves inland later this week,” the NHC advisory said.

But that impact might not hit Clarksville until late Saturday night. The next few days will provide a clearer picture of its possible impact on our area.

“At this time we’re still not sure what’s going to happen, but it looks like Saturday and Sunday are going to be on the rainy side. Depending on the track we could see anywhere from tw0 to four inches, but severe weather is not looking favorable,” said Meteorologist Faith Borden with the National Weather Service office in Nashville.
