OAK GROVE, KY (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Thursday was a special day for close to 700 hundred families of service members as they lined up in their vehicles at the Oak Grove Equestrian Center to accept free boxes and bags of food from Fort Care and One Generation Away.

Dozens of volunteers braved the wind and the rain to pass along the food packages donated by the two nonprofit organizations. Scott Lucas, director of operations for One Generation Away, said they are a food ministry based out of Franklin, Tennessee.

“We provide food to families that are food insecure. Today, we are working with Fort Care to provide honor packages to the men and women in uniform, and there are probably close to 800 packages that we will be giving out today,” Lucas said.

Lucas said there was a lot of food in the honor packages including cereal, mac ‘n’ cheese, pasta noodles, canned meat, canned corn and green beans, adding that there were also snacks and toys for children.

YAIPak Outreach also partnered with One Generation Away and Fort Care to provide laundry detergent, cleaning supplies and disinfecting wipes.
