CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County will host the third annual Multi-Rescue Trunk or Treat for Pets and People on Sunday, Oct. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Humane Society parking lot, 940 Tennessee Ave., behind Arby’s off Riverside Drive.

Admission is free. Monetary donations or pet food and litter contributions are encouraged and will be divided among 11 local pet rescue organizations participating in the event. Each group will have decorated trunks with free treats for pets and their owners.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase from Surfside Sips and MI Coney. The Humane Society Re-Tail Store will also be open, offering free candy, dog treats and catnip in the lobby.

Last year’s event drew nearly 200 people and their pets, raising more than $1,000 and collecting hundreds of pounds of food and litter. The Humane Society will match up to $1,000 in Spay It Forward donations collected during the week leading up to the event. Funds will help provide free spay and neuter surgeries at the society’s low-cost clinic for participating rescues.

Participating organizations include Finders Keepers Cat Rescue, Puurrrfect Paws Rescue, Mikaela’s Mutt Motel, Two Ladies Caring Dog Rescue, APSU Paws to Care, Saving Kittens Sanctuary, Cats MEOW TNR, 3 Friends Animal Rescue, Cats Are Us and Soul Dogs Senior Rescue.

Vetting and spay-neuter services are among the biggest expenses for rescue organizations. Donations can be made through the Trunk or Treat Donation Challenge post on the Humane Society’s Facebook page, by mail or by phone at 931-648-8042.
