CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County is asking the community for donations to support their Pet Food Bank, which is now in desperate need of cat food.
Through the Animal Welfare Assistance Service (AWAS), pet food and pet supplies are provided to qualifying families in need of help to care for pets.
According to the Humane Society, “There are increasing numbers of families who must choose between buying food for their pets and buying food for themselves. Our Pet Food Bank helps them NOT to have to make that choice.”
Last year the Pet Food Bank gave 11,743 lbs. of dry dog food, 3,029 lbs. of dry cat food, 2,476 lbs. of cat litter, 748 cans of wet cat food, and 973 cans of wet dog food to those in need, though cat food is an item that is always in short supply.
Donations of money, food, litter, or gift cards can be dropped off at the Humane Society office between the hours of 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, or between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. the during the rest of the week.
