CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Filling Goodwill trucks with 20,000 pounds of usable donations is no easy task, but volunteers at the Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County are going for it.
In cooperation with Clarksville Goodwill, the Humane Society is collecting donations of usable items to stock their local stores. In return, the Humane Society earns funds based on the number of pounds of acceptable donations.
Volunteers are scouring the county and elsewhere for donations to raise funds for their various programs such as the food bank, spay/neuter vouchers, and the upcoming high volume low cost spay-neuter clinic.
Volunteers have even traveled as far as Ashland City and Fort Campbell to pick up generous truckloads of donations.
Shawnette Murphy, Humane Society board member and fundraising committee chair, was told by a Goodwill representative that no one locally has ever been able to reach that daunting goal.
She challenges Clarksville, Montgomery County, and Fort Campbell residents to make this a record-breaking collection drive.
Donations may be dropped off at the Humane Society office during operating hours: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday; at 940 Tennessee Ave., behind the Riverside Dr. Arby’s Restaurant.
