CLARKSVILLE, Tenn, (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville Indivisible will be holding a candlelight vigil in McGregor Park on July 12 as part of an international protest aimed at immigrant detention facilities.
Lights for Liberty describes itself as “a coalition of [people] dedicated to human rights, and the fundamental principle behind democracy that all human beings have a right to life, liberty, and dignity.” The group’s main goal is to protest the conditions within U.S. immigrant detention facilities.
“Lights for Liberty began with a series of tweets I drafted,” said Elizabeth Cronise McLaughlin, co-founder of Lights for Liberty. “Since then, we’ve watched thousands of ordinary people come together to organize events and fight back worldwide.”
POLL: What is your stance on the holding facilities? Please be patient as the poll may take a moment to load.
