NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Houston County man is charged with abuse of a corpse after police conduct welfare check on a missing woman.
Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation say 63-year-old Robert Calvin Mark, was arrested Monday night and charged with a single count of Abuse of a Corpse.
According to a press release Houston County Sheriff’s office received a request to check on the welfare of 71-year old Dorris Ann Braithwaite, after family members indicated they hadn’t heard from her for some time.
Deputies found her deceased and on the floor in the home. The investigation indicates that due to the condition of her body, she had been dead for several weeks or months. An autopsy will be performed to determine Ms. Braithwaite’s cause of death.
Mark was booked into the Houston County Jail on a $750,000 bond.
