CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A north Clarksville home was heavily damaged in a fire early Wednesday morning.

At 3:01 a.m., Clarksville Fire Rescue was dispatched to Copeland Road, off Tiny Town Road, for a reported structure fire. Engine 7 arrived at 3:06 and confirmed heavy flames coming through the roof, according to a CFR report.

Crews began an aggressive attack, and heavy fire remained in the attic around 3:33. Crews attacked the fire from the outside before transitioning back to interior attack around 3:45, CFR reported. The fire was called under control at 3:56 while crews continued to check for hot spots.

The homeowners were not home at the time, but unfortunately two birds were found inside and did not survive. Two adults were displaced, and the American Red Cross was contacted to assist them. The cause of the fire is under investigation, CFR reported.

Responding CFR units included Engine 7, Ladder 6, Ladder 10, Rescue 6, Squad 1, Ops 2, Rescue 10, District 2 Chief and Battalion 1 Chief.
