CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW)- A home on Airport Road caught fire Monday, Oct. 29 just minutes after the resident’s power was restored.
Clarksville Fire Rescue responded to a house fire on Airport Rd. Monday night. The home had not had power since a storm on Saturday knocked out power for thousands of Clarksville residents.
The electricity was restored to the home and a couple of minutes later the residents- a mother and son- began to smell smoke. Upon further inspection, they discovered flames in a basement bedroom.
They quickly evacuated the home.
The first arriving company arrived in four minutes with flames and heavy smoke coming from a basement window. The fire was quickly bought under control.
The family was displaced from the home, due to the damage. Red Cross was called to assist the family.
The fire is under investigation at this time.
