PALMYRA, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A family in Montgomery County lost their home and two pets in a fire Friday evening.
At 5:52 p.m., Montgomery County Fire Service was dispatched to a house fire on Jim Kim Road, in Palmyra, southwest of Clarksville. The homeowner discovered the fire and got his family out just in time before the smoke became too thick, according to Fire Chief Michael Rios.
Fire crews arrived to see the blaze coming from the back of the home. Tanker trucks had to shuttle water to the scene and use dump tanks for a water supply due to the rural location of the home, Rios said.
Unfortunately, the family also lost their family dog and a flying squirrel. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced family.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
Units from MCFS Stations 16, 15, 17, 18 and 19 responded.
