CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – As first reported by The All State, Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) student newspaper, local hotels will serve as overflow housing for incoming students at the university.

In a press release, APSU officials said the university is experiencing one of the largest influxes of applications in its history. As of July 18, the University has experienced an increase of more than 65 percent compared to last year’s applicant pool.

The Office of Housing and Residence Life has contracted with Best Western Hotel, located at 275 Alfred Thun Rd. and The Riverview Inn at 50 College St.

Both locations are within seven miles of APSU’s campus. APSU staff will reside at the hotels and will provide assistance as needed.

APSU has arranged for shuttle services for the students several times a day from the hotels to campus, according to school’s website.

As the APSU housing office receives cancelations prior to or during the semester, students in the hotels will be assigned to a residence hall based on the date they applied for housing.

Students will pay the $3,300 housing fee per semester while living at the hotels. More information and a list of necessary supplies can be found on the housing page.
