Continuing hot and humid conditions have prompted Clarksville Police to issue a warning that if you leave a pet or child in a hot car and you could be charged with animal cruelty or child neglect.
High temperatures and humidity today will push the heat index to near 100 for a third straight day.
On Wednesday an officer on patrol at Governor’s Square Mall issued a citation to a man who left a dog in a kennel inside a locked van for more than 45 minutes.
The officer reported that he calculated the heat index at 99 degrees.
The owner was cited for animal cruelty.
