HOPKINSVILLE, KY – The 2014 Hopkinsville Christmas Parade will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 6.
According to the City of Hopkinsville website, the parade will follow its usual route from Glass Avenue, south on Main Street to Sixteenth Street.
Glass Avenue and side streets on Glass Avenue from North Drive to Main Street will be blocked from 7:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Side streets on Main Street from Glass Avenue to 16th Street will be blocked from 9 a.m. until noon. There will be no parking on Main Street from Glass Avenue to 16th Street from 9 a.m. until noon.
Only parade participants will be allowed on Glass Avenue from 7:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.
The 2014 theme is “Christmas Memories,” and it is coordinated by the Division of Parks and Recreation.
Float entries will be judged in four different areas. The First Place winner will receive $500.00, while the Second Place entry will win $400.00, and Third Place will receive $300.00. All parade entries are to donate a new, unwrapped with their entry fees and forms. Toys will be given to the Hopkinsville Jaycees to use at their Annual Underprivileged Children’s Christmas Party.
Floats will be judged in the following areas:
1. Design, engineering and special effects.
2. Color and artistic value.
3. Representing the theme.
4. Overall effect which includes above 3 areas.
Any group, club, church, school, business, individual, etc. wishing to enter should pick up forms and rules from the Parks and Recreation office located at 2600 Thomas Street. Hours are: Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Entry deadline is November 19.
