HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW)- Hopkinsville police helped a woman deliver her baby in a vehicle at a Marathon gas station parking lot Monday, January 14.
Hopkinsville Police Department’s Public Information Officer said dispatch received a call around 8:12 p.m. from a woman in labor who was en route to the hospital and said she felt the baby was coming.
“When officers got there, I guess you can say it was go time,” Officer Adkins said.
Officers Nina Wright and Lori Kryszewski were the first to arrive at the parking lot on E9th St and South Campbell St. to assist the woman in delivering her baby.
Police said the woman had a healthy baby boy after the officers coached her through the delivery process inside her vehicle.
“I believe they were excited,” Atkins said about the officers who helped deliver the child. “It is an honor and privilege to be able to be there when somebody needs you and to be able to assist with bringing life into this world.”
