CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Rainy weather was no match for the outpouring of support for the 3rd annual United We Dine event.

In a unique partnership with United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region, eleven local restaurants donated a percentage of their sales to the United Way on March 3rd. With proceeds supporting partner programs that address critical community concerns, patrons were eager to eat out and give back. Alongside diverse menu offerings available, each offered hope…served sunny side up.

Participating restaurants include Bojangles’ Famous Chicken ‘n Biscuits, Dairy Queen, Edward’s Steakhouse, The Gingham Café, Harbor Café, Hops Road on Strawberry Alley, Miss Lucille’s Café, Which Wich Superior Sandwiches, and Wicked Good Sandwiches and in Dover, The Dairy Dip. Dedicated to uniting local community partners and enhancing its diner’s experience, Edwards also featured the work of local photographer David Smith during the United We Dine event.

Longtime community advocates, Alan and Jeff Groves eagerly offered the support of both of their Dairy Queen locations in Clarksville. In its inaugural year, Dairy Queen and guests provided the largest level of support to United We Dine, contributing a percentage of sales and an additional company donation. Employees were also generous supporters, donating tips earned throughout the day.

United We Dine was established to offer local restaurants the opportunity to open their establishments for a more community-centered experience. Alayna Stevens, local United Way Resource Development Director initiated the idea in an effort to expand United Way’s partnership with local restaurants. “It gives patrons an easy way to help those in need and gives restaurants a unique way to promote their fare. Most importantly, it gives a chance to someone who might not otherwise have one,” Stevens said of the event.

United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region mobilizes partners in Montgomery, Houston and Stewart Counties in a united effort to identify and respond to critical community needs. Working to advance the common good, its focus centers on improving lives through education, health and financial stability initiatives. The local non-profit is a 501 (c) (3) organization funded entirely by donations. For more information, please contact the office at (931) 647-4291 or visit www.liveunitedclarksville.org.
