CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A man kept a burglary suspect in custody in his Clarksville home until police arrived to arrest the suspect.

According to a news release, police arrived at the home of Anthony Sanders on Broadmore Dr. Sunday around 7 a.m. Sanders said he was woken up by an alarm system in his garage. When he went to investigate, he heard someone inside the garage from outside and spoke to the suspect through the door.

The suspect, later identified as 23-year-old Mark Stuart, told the homeowner he was homeless and needed a place to sleep and Sanders told him to meet him at his front door to discuss the situation.

He brought Stuart into his home and downstairs to the basement door that leads into the garage. Sanders then said that Stuart pulled a pair of Beats by Dre headphones out of his pocket and told him that he took it from the victim’s garage. He also told the victim that he broke the back window that leads into the garage to gain entry and after finding the headphones, he attempted to get into the house using a ladder to climb into the insulation of the ceiling.

Stuart said that when that was unsuccessful he grabbed a crowbar that was in the garage and pried on the door that leads to the house.

Sanders held Stuart at gunpoint until police arrived to take him into custody. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail and charged with aggravated burglary and contempt. His bond was set at $60,000.
