CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Dunbar Cave State Natural Area located at 401 Old Dunbar Cave Road, has a variety of free programming scheduled for the week of June 1-7.
All programs begin at the Visitor Center unless otherwise specified. Children must be accompanied by an adult (one adult for each three children). See the list of events and deadlines below:
Wednesday, June 4
7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Evening Nature Hike, ages 5 and up
Bring walking sticks, hiking shoes and clothing that can get dirty to hike 2 miles around the natural area trails. Animal and plant life will be discussed. Pace will be slow but moderately strenuous due to terrain. Reserve by 4:30 p.m. on June 4. Program Leader will be Shawn Settle, Seasonal Interpretive Ranger.
Thursday, June 5
7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Evening Nature Hike, ages 5 and up

5:00 a.m. – 6:30 a.m. all ages Sunrise Hike
Hike the 2 mile Recovery Trail and see crepuscular animals. Bring drinking water, shoes for hiking and binoculars bird watching. Space is limited. Reserve by 4:30 p.m. on June 5. Program Leader will be Amy Wallace, Interpretive Specialist. Program May be cancelled due to scheduling change.
7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m., Morning Nature Hike, ages 5 and up
Bring walking sticks, hiking shoes and clothing that can get dirty. Hike will be 2 miles around natural area trails. Animal and plant life will be discussed. Hike will be at a slow pace, though moderately strenuous due to terrain. Reserve by 4:30 p.m. on June 6. Program Leader will be Shawn Settle, Seasonal Interpretive Ranger.
8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m., Birding Port Royal, ages 8 and up
Bring binoculars to learn birds of Port Royal walking by the creek and river bank. Meet at the upper parking lot beside the Visitor Center. Reserve by 4:30 p.m. on June 5. Program Leader will be Amy Wallace, Interpretive Specialist. Program may be cancelled due to scheduling change.
