Programs are free unless noted otherwise. All programs require reservations BY THE DEADLINE LISTED. Programs with no reservations by the deadline are canceled.
All programs begin at the Visitor Center unless another site is listed.
Children must be accompanied by an adult (one adult for each three children).
The age limits are definite – please do not sign up a child who is too young or too old for the program.

FRIENDS OF DUNBAR CAVE MEETING
If you use the park, please support the park by becoming a Friends member (then you can join us for the Saturday canoeing/kayaking as well). Meet in the Visitor Center AV room.
Friday, August 15
9:00 – 10:00 a.m.
MORNING NATURE HIKE (Port Royal) All ages
Bring your walking sticks as we make a 1 mile hike around the park trails. We will see what animals will show themselves and will discuss some of the plant life seen along the trail. The hike will be at a slow pace but will be moderately strenuous due to terrain. Please have shoes that are good for hiking, clothing that can get dirty and be ready to ask questions. We will meet at the visitor’s center at Port Royal State Park.

LAKE LIFE
Ages 4-12
What lives in the lake? We’ll walk around the easy Lake Trail and learn about aquatic plants and animals.

NATURE BOOT CAMP
Ages 12 and up
Want to learn different ways to use nature as a gym? Let us show you how to use things found on the park as gym equipment and train to use the human body how nature intended. Please sign up as only 16 people will be admitted per class.

FRIENDS OF DUNBAR CAVE KAYAK/CANOE DAY
As a thank-you to members of the Friends of Dunbar Cave, we will allow them to bring their canoes or kayaks and enjoy paddling on the lake. Bring your own kayak or canoe and launch it anytime between 9 and 3. THIS IS LIMITED TO MEMBERS OF THE FRIENDS OF DUNBAR CAVE. If you are not a member and wish to participate, please pick up and application in the Visitor Center Lobby and pay your membership dues before this day.
7:45 – 9:30 p.m.
NIGHT HIKE
Ages 5 – adult
Join us after the sun has set and night falls over the Natural Area. We will hike the Short Loop and Lake Trails to look for owls, spiders, and any other nocturnal animals we may come across.
Bring a flashlight and wear bug spray.

FLOAT THE RED RIVER
Join us for a float down the Red River from the 41 bridge in Adams to Port Royal State Park. Cost is $30.00 per boat. Call Dunbar Cave State Park 931-648-5526 for boat availability. Float will include instruction of safe floating and talks about the wildlife seen along the river. 8 canoes, 7 tandem kayaks, 24 kayaks, and 6 paddle boards available. Ages 12 and up for kayaks, canoes available for families, children under 30 lbs will need a life jacket provided by parents.
