CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Clarksville-Montgomery County can expect increasing heat and humidity Tuesday afternoon, as well as the potential for storms later in the evening.

Though morning temperatures have been in the 80’s, heat index readings are expected to reach 100 to 105 degrees this afternoon as heat and humidity continue to rise.

Citizens are encouraged to take extra care when spending time outside, to drink lots of water, stay inside when possible and limit sun exposure. Young children and pets should never be left in vehicles unattended, as temperatures can reach deadly levels in a short period of time.

The NWS has also reported the possibility of strong, isolated storms in the later hours of the day with high, potentially damaging winds.
