CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The state primary for governor, US Senate, US House, Tennessee Senate and Tennessee House is coming up in August, and Tuesday was the cutoff for candidates to qualify.

Here is the list of local candidates, with party affiliation and incumbent status. While no more can jump in, some candidates could still drop out – the withdrawal deadline is March 17.

Who’s on the local ballot?

This is a state political party primary, and none of the following candidates have in-party opposition on the August ballot. These candidates will face each other in the General Election on Nov. 3.

US House, District 7

  • Matt Van Epps of Dickson, R, incumbent
  • Joshua Warren Sales of Pegram, D

Tennessee Senate, District 23

  • Kerry Roberts, R, incumbent, unopposed

Tennessee House, District 67

  • Chris Lanier, R
  • Ronnie Glynn, D, incumbent

Tennessee House, District 68

Tennessee House, District 75

Governor, US Senate and more

There are 26 candidates for governor to replace Gov. Bill Lee. That includes five Republicans running against one another in August and six Democrats. In November, the party winners will face one another and 15 independents.

In the US Senate race, Sen. Bill Hagerty is up for re-election. He has no Republican opponent. Five Democrats will be on the ballot in August. The Democratic Party winner will face Hagerty and eight independents.

Also on the August ballot locally are several State Executive Committee member races, along with the Montgomery County General Election.

What happens next in Montgomery County elections?

The state primary and county general election will be Aug. 6. The voter registration deadline is April 6. Early voting will be April 15-30.
