CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – When “Here Lies Jeremy Troy” opens this weekend at The Cumberland Arts Center Dinner Theatre, audiences will have the chance to appreciate the hard work of some veteran actors on stage.

“Working with experienced actors, especially in a comedy, makes my job much easier. They understand comic timing and know what it takes to make a line funnier,” said Director Art Conn.

The title role of Jeremy Troy is played by Alex Syler, who has made a name for himself in community and professional theatre as an actor who knows a thing or two about what makes people laugh. Syler has worked at the Cumberland Arts Center (CAC) in many shows, including “Butterflies Are Free” and “Star Spangled Girl” and was part of the three-man group to perform “The Complete History of America, Abridged” for which he won one of his many FORSCOM awards when the show was taken to Fort Campbell Theatre. Syler was also a resident actor with the Renaissance Center in Dickson, TN.

Playing opposite Syler is Benny Jones, another community and professional theatre favorite. Jones’ roles include everything from light comedy to the demanding role of Hamlet. Jones was recently featured in the musical, “Smoke” in Adams, TN.

Jones and Syler have been paired together in many productions. They were most recently seen together in “Run For Your Wife” at the Cumberland Arts Center. They were also paired in productions of “The Foreigner”, “See How They Run” and several of the Christmas productions at CAC.

“Putting these two actors together in a production is magic. They seem to play off each other in the vein of Martin and Lewis,” Conn said.

Audiences will once again be in store for a night of rib-tickling fun during “Here Lies Jeremy Troy.”

Show dates are April 17, 18, 24 and 25 at the Cumberland Arts Centre, 710 Main Street in Downtown Clarksville. Tickets are $30 plus tax. Reservations can be made by calling (931) 552-1106. Entrée choices are Cheddar Crusted Chicken or Pork Tenderloin.
