PADUCAH, Ky. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky has issued an Excessive Heat Watch from Wednesday to Sunday ahead of a dangerous heat wave.
The watch area includes Hopkinsville, Elkton, Murray, Eddyville, Cadiz, Princeton and points north.
Heat index values are expected to peak near 105 degrees which could lead to heat related stress and illness, especially to the very young and elderly.
Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
Although Montgomery County, TN is not currently under a Heat Watch, temperatures will still be very hot and humid, especially Thursday through Saturday. Heat index values will top out in the 100 to 105 degree range each afternoon. Skies will be sunny, with no rainfall expected.
Anyone who has to be outdoors this weekend is urged to stay hydrated, wear comfortable clothing, and use sunscreen.
Hot temperatures are dangerous for children and pets. It is against the law to leave them unattended in vehicles.
