CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Nashville says Sunday’s heat index will reach dangerous levels each afternoon Sunday through Wednesday.
Heat index values of 100 to 105 degrees are possible across Middle Tennessee.

“High temperatures will quickly rebound to mid to upper 90s with heat index values gettibg close to 105 to even slightly above that. That’s our heat advisory criteria right there,” said Krissy Hurley, Warning Coordinator/Meteorologist at NWS Nashville.
“What we want to stress is to take it easy and take it slow. If you have to work outside, make sure you drink plenty of liquid and take breaks.”
Hot and humid conditions raise the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To avoid this, wear light and loose fitting clothing and drink plenty of water. Frequent breaks in an air-conditioned area are encouraged.
