The updated forecast shows Saturday’s high near 99, with a heat index as high as 107, according to the National Weather Service.

Update, 1:45 p.m.: At 12:52 p.m., the temperature at Outlaw Field was 95 degrees, and the heat index was at 106, with 51% humidity.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A Heat Advisory has been issued for Montgomery and surrounding counties from noon to 7 p.m. today, with a high near 98 and a heat index of up to 109 expected.

“Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur,” the National Weather Service alert said.

“Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.”

If you must work or spend time outside, take additional precautions.

“When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening,” the NWS said. “Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 911.”

The heat will continue all weekend, with a high of 98 on Saturday and 93 on Sunday.
