CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A new State Health Performance Scorecard from The Commonwealth Fund says Tennessee has the highest childhood obesity rate in the nation.

The report says 38 percent of children ages 10-17 in the state are overweight or obese. In addition, 37 percent of adults (ages 18 to 64) in Tennessee are obese, putting the state in the number 47 spot.

The scorecard also measures several other health factors, including insurance, smoking, dental care, suicide rates, alcohol, cancer, and more.

In terms of overall health, Tennessee was ranked 40 out of 50 states and the District of Columbia.
