CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A collision involving a motorcycle and a car was reported Monday afternoon on Highway 76 between the cross streets of Bellshire Dr. and Red Coat Run.

A LifeFlight helicopter was called to the scene to transport the motorcycle rider and passenger to Vanderbilt Medical Center. The driver of the car was not injured.

The driver of the motorcycle, identified as 59-year-old Bruce Best of Dickson, later died at the hospital. His wife, 52-year-old Lisa Best, is in critical condition at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

An arrest warrants states that 72-year-old Herbert Hensley from Essex, MD was driving his Ford Mustang in the wrong direction for two miles before hitting the couple’s motorcycle.

Hensley has been charged with reckless homicide and booked into the Montgomery County Jail. His bond was set at $600,000.

This is the third local crash involving a motorcycle in two days. 28-year-old James Johnston was killed Sunday night in a crash on Highway 76, and a Fort Campbell soldier was killed in a crash on I-24 West in Nashville Sunday.
