CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – On Friday, December 13, Harris Holt Martial Arts Academy along with the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce, cut the ribbon on a new martial arts facility at 1810 Alpine Drive in Clarksville.
The new martial arts location, which has been open since early December, is in addition to Harris Holt Martial Arts Academy which has been open for the past three years at 211 West Dunbar Cave Road
Owner Blake Harris said there were a number of reasons for opening an additional location with the main reason being to benefit their students. “We opened it up to add some more classes and make it more convenient for our student’s parents, some of the adult students and the other classes we are going to be offering,” Harris said.
Something that is scheduled to start in January will be a new after school program involving elementary and middle schools in Clarksville where Harris Holt will pick the kids up from school and take them to the facility.
The program is from 3-6 p.m. and also features a lot of educational and fun activities for children. Along with karate lessons there will be a teacher to help with homework, snack time and arts and crafts which Harris said is something new to Clarksville.
Plans are for fitness classes to also be offered at the new Harris Holt Martial Arts Academy on Alpine Drive. Those classes will include women’s self-defense, mixed martial arts, boxing, kick boxing, judo and more for ages 16 and up.
Hours for the news Harris Holt facility on Alpine Drive will be from 2-9 p.m. Monday-Friday and 11 a.m. – 2p.m. on Saturday. At the West Dunbar Cave Road location Harris Holt is open from 11:30 a.m. – 9 p.m. Monday-Friday and Saturday 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
