MSG E-8 (Ret.) USA, Harold William Waye, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the age of 97 at the TN State Veterans Home.

Harold was born on June 3, 1927, in Metter, GA, to the late Rufus Hillman Waye and Sallie Conner.

Along with his parents, Harold is preceded in death by his son, Michael Harold Way; brothers, Norman Waye and Jesse Paul Waye; sisters, Dorthy Jackson, Lila Ray Lucas, Vera Hazeart, Trudy Hudspeth, Eunice Evans, Geneva Waye, and Genette Waye.

Harold is survived by his loving and caring wife of 72 years, Wilma Tipton Waye; sons, Jerry (Grace) Waye and Glenn R. Waye; sister, Mary Quinn; grandchildren, Jeffry Waye, Brian (Stephanie) Waye, Carolynn Waye, Amanda (Jacob) Waye Stinson, and Danielle Waye (James) La Piedra; and great grandchildren, Hiro, Riku, and Jun.

Harold was a graduate of Austin Peay State University, he served in the US Army for 28 years and later worked for the State of Tennessee as Director of Counselors at the TN Youth Center in Joelton. He was a master parachutist serving in Korea during the Korean War and two tours in Vietnam. Harold received numerous medals including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

Harold dearly loved his family and enjoyed all sports, especially his favorite, golf, and was a member of New Providence United Methodist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home with Rev. Dave Evans officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 11:00 AM until the hour of service at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
