Harold Gene Mason, 95, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024. Born on August 25, 1929, he was a loving father, grandfather, soldier, and friend who brought warmth, strength, and humor to all who knew him.
A dedicated soldier, Harold proudly served in the United States Army for 27 years. He fought bravely in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, where he was injured in service and later honored as a decorated Purple Heart recipient. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and he retried with honor from Fort Benning, Georgia, as a Command Sergeant Major.
Harold was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Sandy, with whom he shared many joyful years, raising a beautiful family together, his brothers, Joy Mason, Ed Mason and Loyd Mason, and granddaughter, Kimberly Lynch.
Harold is survived by his beloved children: Valerie Richards, Heather Mason, Darrell Mason, and Zane Mason. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Rocky Steele, Andrew Mason, Danielle Gray, Kelli Allison, Michael Mason, Shelley Ray, and Mason Nowlin.
Harold had a special fondness for Louie, a loyal dog who brought him joy and companionship during visits.
He enjoyed fishing and could always be counted on to crack open a cold one with friends and family. Known for his generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand. Harold was a true family man who loved unconditionally and brought light to those around him.
His legacy of love, resilience, and kindness will live on through those he touched. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
