CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW)- An employee with a third-party vendor tested positive for COVID-19 at the Hankook Tire plant in Clarksville this week.

“It was discovered on June 17 that an employee of a third party vendor at our Tennessee Plant tested positive for COVID-19. All employees have been notified and plant management is taking the necessary steps to manage the situation including evacuating the building, thoroughly disinfecting the area and notifying those who were in direct contact with the positive individual, per the direction of the Department of Health,” a Hankook representative said in a statement.

“The individual who tested positive is self-isolating and those who were in direct contact have been directed to get tested and self-isolate until their test results are verified. Our Tennessee Plant continues to follow CDC and local government requirements to ensure that we maintain a safe and healthy workplace for all our employees and plant visitors.”

According to a letter sent to Hankook employees, the employee worked in the deli, which was shut down immediately after they were  notified of the employee’s illness. Hankook was unsure of where the employee contracted COVID-19 from but said they were certain he exposed other employees.
