CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville Habitat for Humanity ReStore and Art for Hearts will be hosting free community art classes beginning July 13. Classes will meet in the Habitat ReStore from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Along with free admission, participants will also be supplied the necessary materials at no cost. Participants are also encouraged to wear clothes they don’t mind getting messy.

The art classes will be led by local artists in a painting project based on the theme “Turning Junk into Something Useful.” Susie Yonkers will lead the first class in painting old CDs in the Mandala Style. Mandala is the style of complex abstract designs based around a circular shape.

Kristi Huang will lead the following class on July 20 with Persian Style Tile Painting.

“This is a perfect partnership,” explained Rob Selkow, director of Habitat for Humanity. “We’re blessed with a large space and we want to share that in abundance through community partnerships that bring diverse people together. The mission of Art for Hearts is to engage the community through participation in the arts, which is a great fit for Habitat.”
