CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County broke ground Tuesday, June 29, for a new home for Maria Padro Santana, her husband Bartolo Figueroa, and their teenage daughter, Alondra.
The groundbreaking was for the 104th local home for Habitat since 1992, and it will join four other homes, one occupied, and three others under construction, on Richardson Street.
The home is sponsored by Legends Bank and is being branded as “The House that Legends Built.” Tommy Bates, president and CEO of Legends, thanked everyone who attended the groundbreaking along with bank employees for their support.
“These type projects are important to us, that’s what community banking is all about. Even though we are in the business of making money, we’re also in the business of giving back, and that’s just as important,” Bates said.
Santana said she was grateful to God for her new home. “In my country I couldn’t make it, and I came to this country and I made it, thanks to my Lord, because he was there with me, and my husband was there with me, so I’m thankful for that,” Santana said.
Work will begin soon, and the home will be built by David Wyles Construction, Gabe and Erica Ramos.
