Update, 1:35 p.m.: MCSO officials said the gun was found shortly after school dismissal, and that the car was parked in the Kenwood Middle School parking lot.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A gun, ammo and drugs were found in a student’s car in the parking lot of Kenwood High School last week.

School Resource Officers recovered the firearm Thursday afternoon, according to a news release Monday morning from Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Sandra Brandon.

The gun was found in the vehicle of an 18-year-old student. School administration had suspected the student might be in possession of marijuana. When they searched his vehicle, they discovered the gun, Brandon said. The firearm, a magazine, and 13 rounds of ammunition were taken into possession by the SRO. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia were also recovered.

There was no threat of violence against the school.
