NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) On Thursday, August 24, U.S. Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) will travel to Montgomery County to deliver remarks at the groundbreaking for the new LG Electronics appliance factory, according to a press release from the senator’s office.

The Clarksville factory is expected to create at least 600 full-time jobs.

The LG facility will be the most advanced washing machine factory in the world and will produce front- and top-loading washing machines. LG considered seven other states during its evaluation process and worked closely with state officials and the Tennessee Valley Authority in its decision to choose Tennessee.

Corker released the following statement when LG announced in February that it had chosen Tennessee:

“The announcement that LG Electronics will invest $250 million and create 600 full-time jobs is outstanding news for the people of Montgomery County and the surrounding communities,” said Corker. “There is no question that Tennessee is a great place to do business, and I am glad this company will soon call our state home. Time and again, top-notch businesses are choosing Tennessee, and I thank Governor Haslam and his economic development team for their impressive efforts to bring jobs to the Volunteer State.”
