CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Multi-Purpose Event Center in downtown Clarksville will take a major symbolic step forward next week with the official groundbreaking by Montgomery County and the Nashville Predators.
Mayor County Mayor Jim Durrett and representatives from the Predators will break ground on the MPEC on Thursday, Nov. 12, at the site, according to an announcement from the Predators.
The ground-breaking comes after the Predators signed a contract in October with Montgomery County to operate the facility, which is scheduled to open in 2022.
Also in October, Austin Peay State University signed a 30-year lease for the Govs basketball program to be the MPEC’s primary tenant.
Scheduled speakers at Thursday’s event include Predators President and CEO Sean Henry, Durrett, APSU Athletic Director Gerald Harrison and City Mayor Joe Pitts, according to the announcement.
