Paid for by the campaign to elect Kevin Griffy, Buddy Bumpus Treasurer

Kevin Griffy, longtime resident and business owner in Clarksville, is running for Montgomery County Highway Supervisor. Griffy is running as a Republican
on the March 3 ballot in the 2020 Election.

Griffy has made his roots in Clarksville and has proudly raised his family in the community. Kevin and his wife, Gwen Appleton Griffy, were married in 1988.  They have two children and four grandchildren.

With over 30 years of hands on experience, Griffy believes in managing the Highway Department efficiently.

His experience stems from his time at the City of Clarksville Street department where he gained knowledge of paving, operating equipment, cleaning storm drains and debris, repairing sinkholes, and erosion control. He drove a salt truck during the winter months.

Griffy transferred from the Street Department to the City of Clarksville Sewer Plant Department where he monitored, repaired, and cleaned pumps to ensure proper operation.  For almost 10 years, Griffy served the residents of Clarksville as a city employee.

In 1998, Griffy’s entrepreneurial spirit took hold and he began his successful business, Griffy Trucking. The initiative and determination it takes to create and run a new business was invaluable.

The business was in operation from 1998 through 2008 when it was sold.  As the owner and operator of Griffy Trucking, Kevin collaborated with over 150 contractors, scheduling work to accommodate their construction needs. He bought and sold heavy equipment, ie. dump trucks, backhoes, loaders, etc. The projects and equipment was used for the betterment of the Montgomery County community.

He used his knowledge of specking equipment out to ensure proper equipment met the job as needed. Budgeting became a daily need at which Griffy excelled. All expenses, from cost of goods sold to equipment expenses, fuel, and insurance down to payroll needed for his employees.  He supervised and organized daily work and ensured work was performed in a safe and timely manner.

Griffy Trucking had multiple contracts with the City of Clarksville and worked diligently together with the City to meet our communitys needs.  Griffy’s business also successfully collaborated with the US Army Corp of Engineer to construct roadways on Ft Campbell Army Base.

He worked with land developers in our community to build roads in the Clarksville area.

In 2019, he worked with the Montgomery County Highway Department. At that time, he drove & operated equipment. This provided an inside view of how the department operates. With this knowledge, Kevin left the Highway Department to pursue his campaign for Highway Supervisor.

Today, Griffy operates another successful business, Griffy Construction & Landscape.  As a General Contractor, he has built and remodeled several homes.

Highway Supervisor Goals

As Highway Supervisor, Griffy will be approachable. “I want all residents to feel comfortable coming to me with concerns and suggestions,” said Griffy.

Griffy believes he can improve and push Montgomery County forward into the next century with infrastructure capable of handling the demands the County’s growth is requiring.

“I will diligently be looking to our county’s future through grants and funding to ensure we are getting all available funds possible,” Griffy said. “I will be using my business experience to schedule work more efficiently, saving tax dollars. By utilizing my knowledge in highway construction as an owner/operator I will be able to choose highly qualified individuals for positions that are open.”

“My experience operating heavy equipment will allow me to inspect, maintenance, or look to change out equipment.” This focus will save taxpayer money.

There are numerous bridges that need repair and the most dangerous will be repaired first.

More roads will be paved according to needs and safety.  Right of Ways will be cut back so weather will not cause major issues later.  Striping with glass bead paint will be on more roads to ensure the safety of drivers in all weather and times of day.

“These are a few things I will start with as the next Highway Supervisor.  I am sure when I get with the staff there and we collaborate we will see other areas that will need to be addressed,” said Griffy. “I am asking for your support during this Primary on March 3  election.  Early voting started Feb 12 and runs through Feb 25.  I can’t do this alone, I need your support! Come VOTE!”
