Gregory “Greg” Mann Fields, age 51, passed away on July 10, 2024, in Kingwood, TX.
Greg was born on September 11, 1972, in Nashville, TN, and was the son of William and Cynthia Fields and Sherry and Roland DeLucca. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sherry DeLucca, affectionately known as Uma, and his grandparents, Aaron and Marie Mann, and James and Mary Fields. He is survived by his beautiful daughter, Sophie Alexandra Fields (born in Plano, TX and residing in Cincinnati, OH), his father and step-mother Bill and Cindy Fields (Clarksville, TN), his step-father, Ron DeLucca (Clarksville, TN), his brother Bradley Fields (Amanda), nephew Dean, and niece, Jolee, his friend Becky Toomey, and his ex-wife Christy Pennington (mother of Sophie).
Greg graduated from Northeast High School in Clarksville, TN, in 1992 and from Austin Peay State University (B.B.A) in 1998. At Austin Peay, Greg majored in Finance and was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity. It was through this business fraternity that Greg met Christy, and the rest, they say, is history. Post-college, Greg worked at CNA and CSC as a financial analyst and most recently worked in the pool business with family and friends throughout Texas. Greg loved to laugh and have a good time, even in a corporate environment. On a business trip to San Diego, Greg and his co-workers crossed the border for a group outing; he called Christy upon his return to his hotel and told her that he rode/had his picture taken with a zebra while there. When the pictures from his trip were developed a few weeks later, it turns out that the zebra was a donkey painted to look like a zebra. The story brought lots of laughs for years to come.
Greg enjoyed working out and was of late, training to run in a marathon. While he became a Houston Astros fan after his move to the Houston, TX area, Greg is a longtime fan of the Tennessee Titans, Tennessee Volunteers, and New York Yankees. He loved rooting for both the Lady Vols basketball team under Pat Summit and the New York Yankees together with Uma, especially when the Yankees played against Ron’s beloved Boston Red Sox. They were definitely a house divided during baseball season!
For the past three years, Greg had re-dedicated his life to Jesus Christ and enjoyed conversations with his dad and stepmom regarding acceptance and salvation. This was especially important to him, and he had begun looking into being re-baptized.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 27, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at the Frances Lee Event Center located at 1860 Wilma Rudolph Blvd., Clarksville, TN 37040.
