CLARKSVILLE, TN – Greenwood Cemetery and many other cemeteries across the country are getting ready for the Wreaths Across America ceremony on Dec. 13.
Greenwood’s ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial just inside the cemetery gates. One of the chaplains from Fort Campbell will conduct the ceremony along with the Color Guard and eight service members who will present the wreaths for Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Merchant Marines, Coast Guard, Space Force and POW/MIA. Scouts along with local firefighters will be in attendance as volunteers. If you are a military family and/or have a veteran buried in Greenwood, you can go online to www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/TNGRNC and purchase a wreath for your veteran. You can also leave a message on the board in honor of your veteran.
Greenwood has over 1,700 veterans buried in the cemetery. They need wreaths to be purchased for each veteran and volunteers to help lay the wreaths. The wreaths are $17 each and can be purchased at www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/TN0295 or you may stop by the office and leave a check or cash and fill out a sponsor form for either grave specific (for a specific veteran), or purchase two wreaths for any veteran and $5 will be donated toward another wreath.
