Greenwood Cemetery, a historic part of Clarksville, prepares to expand

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – One of Clarksville’s most historic sites, Greenwood Cemetery, recently joined the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Office Manager Dana Koverman said the cemetery was laid out in 1872 with the first lot sold in 1873. Greenwood Cemetery covers 125 acres, and this year they are opening a new section with 760 burial lots.

“We are so grateful to have the community be a part of Greenwood. We have a group of ladies and gentlemen who come out every day and walk for exercise,” Koverman said.

Greenwood Cemetery is at 976 Greenwood Ave., and the business office, which is across the street from the cemetery, is open 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday.
