CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Senator Mark Green (R-Clarksville) has earned a perfect score from the Family Action Council of Tennessee, a nonprofit educational organization devoted to the traditional values of faith and family in protecting America’s freedoms. During the 109th General Assembly, Senator Green received the conservative group’s top “Family Champion” designation.

The Family Action Council of Tennessee (FACT) serves as a frontline conservative organization which educates and mobilizes voters through the legislative monitoring and scoring of proposals which impact issues ranging from educational choice to the prevention of tax dollars used for Planned Parenthood for abortions to the religious protections of Christians’ rights in the workplace.

“It is a true privilege to receive this honor for standing in the trenches against a political agenda that is increasingly hostile to the Judeo-Christian faith and the critical institutions that make our society strong,” noted Senator Green, the Chaplain of the TN Senate and a key sponsor of pro-family and pro-life legislation in 2015 and 2016. “Our efforts must remain strong to protect the great families and our freedom of faith in Tennessee.”

Among legislation scored for the ranking was support of:
• SB 2387-the bathroom privacy bill addressed only in the TN Senate that would require public schools and colleges to use the restroom and locker room corresponding to the sex listed on their birth certificate
• SB 2568 – legislation to restrict the sale and misuse of fetal parts
• SB 1280 – abortion clinics must be licensed and regulated as an ambulatory surgery center for patient safety and standards
• SB 1222 – creating a 48-hour waiting period prior to the termination of a pregnancy via abortion

“Senator Green has been a true Family Champion on issues related to family, life, and religious liberty,” noted Zack Pruitt, Director of Public Policy of FACT. “The list leaders who serve as guardians of our faith and family have consistently included Senator Mark Green.”

Senator Green represents the 22nd District of Tennessee which includes Montgomery, Houston and Stewart Counties. Green, first elected in 2012, serves as Vice-Chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee and was the lead sponsor of the historical Hall Tax Elimination bill just signed into law.
