CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Austin Peay volleyball picked up an impressive Ohio Valley Conference three-set sweep (25-17, 25-15, 25-23) over Belmont Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Dunn Center.
The Governors were led by outside hitter Brooke Moore who had an 18-kill performance, posting a .607 attack percentage while recording a team-high 11 digs. Chloe Stitt also pitched in 13 kills and four digs for the Govs.
Austin Peay owned the first two sets of the match, taking each in dominant fashion. The final set featured big runs by each team, including a Governor’s 7-0 spurt followed by a Belmont 8-1 run. The Govs proved to be too much for the Bruins to handle, as APSU closed the set on a 15-9 run to pick up the sweep and their second consecutive win.
Haley Van Poppel finished with 10 kills and a .381 attack percentage for the Bruins.
Belmont (2-21, 1-7 OVC) left Clarksville with 35 total kills.
Austin Peay (7-15, 5-3 OVC) travels to take on Tennessee Tech (9-12, 5-3 OVC) at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25 in a conference matchup.
