Gordon “Wendell” Cobb, age 67, entered God’s Kingdom Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Signature Healthcare, in Clarksville. He was born in Clarksville, TN, to the late Gordon Brandon Cobb and Geneva Francis Bowers Cobb. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Charles Hugh Denny.
Wendell retired after 36 years with Kroger and was a member of First Baptist Church. He was also a loving husband to his wife Debra, of 27 years. Family was most important to Wendell, and he is known for his generosity.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 6 at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel, with Roger Freeman and Larry Riley officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, and Wednesday, from 11:00 AM until the hour of service, at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Cobb, of Clarksville; brother, Dudley (Donna) Cobb, of Clarksville; two nephews, Brandon (Lisa) Cobb and Brian Cobb, and great nephew, Ty Gordon Cobb, all of Clarksville; mother-in-law, Nadine H. Denny, of Cookeville, TN; brother-in-law, David (Denise) Denny, of Bowling Green, KY; sister-in-law, Diana Denny, of Nashville, TN; three nieces, Megan Denny, of Nashville, TN, Devon (Trampus) Jaggers and Shannon (John) Towe, both of Bowling Green, KY; and great nephew David Ray Jaggers.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Cobb, Brian Cobb, Trampus Jaggers, John Towe, Jim Ford, David Wright, Roger Suggs, and William Manners. Gentlemen from Wendell’s First Baptist Sunday School class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, Local Missions Fund, 435 Madison Street, Clarksville, TN 37040.
