CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Red River Republican Women’s Club of Clarksville welcomed the GOP candidates running for Governor of Tennessee to their “Home of the Governors” annual membership drive and wine tasting party Friday at Customs House Museum.
There are currently six candidates on the Republican ticket who have announced their run for governor and five of those spoke at the event. State Senator Mae Beavers, Congressman Diane Black, Tennessee House Speaker Beth Harwell, Bill Lee and Kay White. Candidate Bobby Boyd was unable to attend the event and a member of his support team, Chip Saltsman, spoke on his behalf.
Special recognition was given to Wayne Oldham and Keith Svadba who have passed away. Both men were remembered and honored as long time supporters of the local, state and national Republican Party.
President of the Red River Republican Women’s Club, Cathy Kolb, talked about the event. “We always try to get candidates in to speak, last year it was the local election and this year we went with the gubernatorial candidates. We’re very excited to have them come and tell what they stand for so that we can make an informed decision when it comes time for the gubernatorial election ,” said Kolb.
