Shaken up, the woman he nearly hit pulled off to the side of road.
The Good Samaritan, traveling on I-40 with his brothers, pulled over to offer assistance to the woman.
The woman told the brothers she believed the driver had jumped over the guardrail.
The 31-year-old passerby then jumped over the railing to find the man, not realizing there was a 100-foot drop into a shallow creek below.
Multiple rescue crews responded to the scene and pulled the man out of the water.
He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Albright was found a short time later walking down the interstate and arrested for DUI.
According to an affidavit, he appeared to be drunk and admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages earlier in the evening.
The westbound lanes of I-40 were shut down for over an hour.
The victim’s name has not yet been released.
