CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – ‘Tis the season of giving, and very few people in Clarksville know it better than the youngsters and staff at The Giving Tree Child Care Center, 3216 Highway 41-A South. During the week of November 18-22, 232 students up to 12-years-old have been collecting all sorts of items to be donated to various local community organizations.

Amy Traylor, Owner and Director of the Giving Tree talked about what the children were doing at the center. “This week is our service and give back week to our community in honor of just teaching our children the meaning of giving and Thanksgiving with the holidays coming up,” said Traylor.

Traylor added that each of their classrooms were allowed to pick a different service project. The six projects included supporting the Salvation Army Angel Tree, Manna Café, Ronald McDonald House, Hope Pregnancy Center, a coat and toy drive and letters to Soldiers overseas.

One of the Pre-Kindergarten classes also held a bake sale for medical expenses for a family enrolled in their school whose father was recently diagnosed with cancer.
